Fleet Marine Device (#R-177)
Criteria: The Fleet Marine Device – or “Combat Operations Insignia” – is an attachment to the various campaign medals, and Navy service ribbons, specifically the Fleet Marine Force Ribbon and is authorized by the U.S. Marine Corps to any member of the U.S. Navy who is assigned to either a U.S. Navy unit under operational control of a Fleet Marine Force unit, or an individual sailor assigned to a Fleet Marine Force unit. The unit, or individual assigned to a unit, must have engaged in active combat during service with the unit. The Fleet Marine Device is a one time decoration and no more than one insignia may be worn on a ribbon, or campaign medal. In addition to the Fleet Marine Force ribbon, the following campaign medals are also authorized the Fleet Marine Device: American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal; Korean Service Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Southwest Asia Service Medal; Kosovo Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and; Iraq Campaign Medal.
